The Gathering started as a few friends wanted to get together to raise theological awareness throughout the city of Jakarta. To that end we have been moving around through various venues around the city: before we began the study in the book of Romans, we went through Ephesians 2:1-10 in Menteng; our study in Romans took place, already, in PIK, Pacific Place, Pondok Indah, and Plaza Indonesia.
On Monday, August 11, 2014, we had our first ever The Gathering service with an actual liturgy consisting of readings, creeds, confessions, and prayers. In this service, I explained the passage Colossians 1:15-20 and how it highlights the sovereignty, supremacy and preeminence of Christ to a general audience. I am thankful and privileged to be a part of such a great and Christ-honoring team. The Gathering upholds that Reformed theology is the best expression of all which Scripture teaches.
Here is a simple video of that night; the scripture reading which leads into the sermon starts at the 21st minute:
We hope that the Gathering will be used by God to bring in something new into the city.
